Travel soccer is for children in grades 3-8. WYSA plays in the
Middlesex Youth Soccer League (MYSL) and plays against teams from other towns. Approximately half of the games will be played in Westford. The remaining away games will require traveling to other towns. Some of the towns in this league include Billerica, Chelmsford, Lowell, Somerville, and Waltham. For a complete list of towns that participate in MYSL visit the Organizations page on the
MYSL website. Registration for the Fall Travel program runs from May through June. Registration for the Spring travel program runs from November through December. Specific dates are posted on the WYSA website. The number of teams is based on the number of player registrations for the season. Due to MYSL's maximum roster sizes we may not be able to place every player on a team. In this situation WYSA will notify players. Any players not placed on teams due to roster size will receive a full refund.
The
Grade 3/4, Grade 5/6, and Grade 7/8 Travel programs are competitive programs focused on challenging players by placing players of similar skills into an appropriate travel division to play against similarly skilled teams from surrounding towns. Players wishing to play Grade 3/4, Grade 5/6, and Grade 7/8 Travel must attend skill assessments in the spring to help determine their team and division placement. MYSL has regulations governing roster sizes. In the event that the number of registered players will not divide equally into teams, WYSA reserves the right to drop players as necessary to ensure the correct number of players per team.
Note: WYSA is not affiliated with the Westford Middle School and High School programs.
Rec soccer is for children in grades 3-4. The Grade 3/4 Rec program uses a balanced team format with skilled and developing players split equally between teams. Teams play other Westford Rec teams and possibly teams from neighboring towns such as Acton. The program is only offered if there are sufficient players registered by the deadline. If the program is not offered, players are automatically transferred to the Travel program or provided a refund, depending on the option selected during registration. Players attend the skills assessment in the spring. Registration for the Fall Rec program runs from May through June. Registration for the Spring Rec program runs from November through December. Specific dates are posted on the WYSA website. GRADE 3/4 REC PROGRAM NOT OFFERED IN FALL 2023 + SPRING 2024 DUE TO LACK OF AN AGE DIRECTOR TO RUN THE PROGRAM.The
Grade 9-12 Travel program consists of our High School age players. These teams participate in
BAYS for the Fall season and
Middlesex Youth Soccer League for the Spring season with games on Sundays. For the Spring season, games are "venue-based" to allow for more effective scheduling of officials. Westford teams may have home games that are not played in Westford. Registration for the Fall Travel program runs from May through August. Registration for the Spring travel program runs from November through December. Specific dates are posted on the WYSA website. The number of teams is based on the number of player registrations for the season. Due to MYSL's maximum roster sizes, we may not be able to place every player on a team. In this situation WYSA will notify players. Any players not placed on teams due to roster size will receive a full refund.
